Syracuse Trip

Uncle Kelly came for a visit from Michigan and I got to go with mom and him back to Syracuse for a Day Trip.

This was my grandparents house that they had built when they moved from the underground house in the country. I have a lot of memories here. We used to play croquet in the backyard. Grandma had a cat named Cleo that Mason and I hated having to go feed because she ate canned food. There was a little area in the basement that was where we would feed her and it was gross! The bedroom on the far right had all of grandma's costume jewelry and I loved getting to play with it. Across the street is a church and we spent a lot of time playing in what I thought was a HUGE yard. On this trip back it seemed to have shrunk!

There is an alley behind the house. I always thought the yard was huge but seeing it today puts it in perspective! On the very left side of this photo there is an underground room that my uncle Kelly dug out a very long time ago. I remember the whole fence being lined with trees so you could not see the house from the alley.

The north side of town looking toward the airport.

My Great-Grandparents the Schmidt's first house in Syracuse.

My Great-Grandma GiGi's house. I only remember her living in the nursing home.

Downtown Syracuse, Kansas.

The Schmidt family farm. On the way to Syracuse mom and uncle Kelly were talking about this car so it was neat to actually find it.

Kelly and Mom remember running around on top of this water hole. I remember doing it with Mason.

2014 Graduaton

Loved the idea of a photo booth at one of the graduation parties we went to. Of course Chase's women (Kylee Spray and Hannah Hildebrand) stole him for a photo session! I will have to remember to put this out on his graduation day!

California

We went to Costa Mesa, California to see Uncle Mason at the end of May. First time flying with an eleven month old and a six month pregnant mommy!!! Chase was a great flyer! He never had any problems and even managed to stay pretty calm during a re-route and delay on the way home. It was a great trip even though Daddy had to stay home to coach baseball. Chase loved the beach and the ocean!

Made it to Costa Mesa, now for a quick nap on the way to see Uncle Mason!

While we were shopping Chase took his first steps ever with Mason. Milestone in the Baby Carters store in California!

Mom, Dad, and I were ordering some  beverages and Chase was fussy so Mason took him outside for awhile. Dad got this pic without them knowing. One of my favorite photos ever. A little Uncle/Nephew bonding moment caught on camera!

Mason's Apartment...which is at the end of a narrow driveway. That seems to be the common trend there. Not sure I would like driving in reverse all that way to get out everyday!

Newport Beach

Two summers straight of being pregnant and this is the last time I go through that!

Wish we had flowers like this in Kansas!

His very first touch of sand was a success. He was throwing it everywhere so we had to move to the harder sand!

We were all pretty jealous of Mason's tan!

Chase smiled and laughed the whole time he was in the water!

Of course Mason had to conquer the bigger waves with Chase!

Chase is in the Future Jayhawk Program and this summer they sent the members a cardboard Jayhawk to take with them wherever they may go. They are suppose to take pictures and send them to the Alumni Association. Of course getting a normal pictures was impossible!

As long as you are a baby a shower on the beach is the way to go!
Chase would wake up in California at 4:30 in the morning (6:30 in GB). Thankfully Grandpa was on the same schedule so they could go explore while Mom and Grandma slept!

Mason works at a Dog Sitting Company so we got to take a tour!

Day #2 on the beach!

We thought we were pretty far from the waves...guess we should have been paying attention to the water and not the baby. Maybe our photographer could have warned us!

Had to include this picture due to the background action!

Best game on the beach...take Mason's glasses off and stab him in the eye trying to put them back on.

Wouldn't it be the life to play in the ocean all day and nap on the beach???

We found this Park to spend some time at before heading back to Kansas.

Had to wake sleeping boy up to enjoy it.

What kind of tree is this on the left?...A cell tower!

These were the strangest looking birds. They looked like evil geese.

It was a short trip but a great time with Uncle Mason. Next time we will stay longer...and have 2 kiddos along for the ride (flight)!
